WATCH: Vereeniging shops caught selling rotten goods

This morning Community Safety MEC Faith Mazibuko walked the streets of Vereeniging in an assessment of shop owners and shoppers compliance to the COVID19 lockdown Level 4 regulations.

Mazibuko arrived at Vereeniging Wednesday morning, joined by Gauteng Health care workers, Gauteng Traffic Police officers and community patrollers.

In one of the shops Mazibuko discovered frozen meat.

 

“We have discovered expired frozen meat at another shop in Vereeniging. The shop doesn’t comply with the #COVID19 lockdown regulations, no social distancing and the place must be decontaminated since it’s very dirty.”

At another shop  the team discovered rotten fruit juices.

“All these fruit juices are rotten to the core. This shop based in Vereeniging is not complying with maintenance of food security standards.”

“The health and safety of our citizens is paramount. We cannot allow our people to be subjected to such acts of criminality, selling our people expired food products must come to an end now.”
