Truck rear-ends another, two injured in Meyerton

Two men were left injured on Monday morning when a truck rear-ended another on the R59 near the Pierneef offramp in Meyerton.

“ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 10h35 to find the two trucks on the side of the road a short distance apart,” ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said in a statement.

“On closer inspection, medics found two men lying trapped inside the one truck. Assessments showed that one man had sustained serious injuries while the second man had sustained minor injuries.”

Midvaal Fire Services had to use specialised equipment to free the two men, an operation lasting 40 minutes.

“Once freed, medics treated the men and provided the seriously injured man with pain-relief medication before they were transported to Sebokeng Provincial Hospital for further care,”Meiring added.
