Reports of Sebokeng fly-by-night tournaments during lockdown

SEBOKENG.- There are strong claims that there are some soccer teams that have been playing tournaments during the lockdown in Boitumelo in Sebokeng.

This concern was raised by the Emfuleni Local Football’s Super League teams’ coaches to Sedibeng Ster Sport. The coaches told Sedibeng Ster Sport some soccer teams were playing the tournaments at Boitumelo and Argentina soccer grounds over the weekend. The coaches allege that this has been happening since the Easter weekend. “It is unbelievable, games were happening on Saturday in Boitumelo and parents were watching meaning they saw nothing wrong about this,’ said one coach.

“I’m so disappointed to learn that people are still organising tournaments around here. What can be done by people that comply of lockdown regulations? This is because people run after money risking their lives by playing fly-by-night tournaments”, said another concerned coach.

According to the coach players failed to obey rules set by their clubs and mother body SAFA. He asked Sedibeng Ster Sport what can be done by people  not comply of lockdown regulations. However, another coach suggested those who are hosting tournaments must be arrested.
