Concerns as locals make the most of the Level 4 weekend

As the country entered its first weekend of a Level 4 lockdown, crowds of customers around the Vaal took advantage of stores opening.

In town (Vanderbijilpark) the issue of wearing face masks proved problematic, however, several people who were not wearing them were turned away from some stores. However, social distancing was not adhered to.

In Vaal Mall local shoppers came out in full force, with the mall’s parking filled to capacity. Concern was expressed that people had forgotten about the global pandemic “Did they all miss the news about lockdown and the pandemic?” a Facebook user commented.

A social media user was also perplexed by the scenes at Vaal Mall posting: “Keep going and spread the virus soon we are back to stage 5.”

Another Facebook user posted: “Stay away; according to statistics this is where your chance of picking up the virus is. Chances are that 1 in 10 carry the virus.  The virus is now at its most dangerous stage.”
