Untold amateur football history!

There are mixed feelings among soccer fans about the history of amateur football.

Many believed that amateur football history has been neglected.
TOUCHLINE agree’s with them, little has been said and written about amateur football in our communities.
This was before our football matches were showed on national television.
There are very interesting untold stories about amateur football.
For example, yours truly TOUCHLINE grew up in football community or community that was passionate about football.
I stayed next to the soccer ground. As a boy I would go to watch soccer matches on Sunday morning till the afternoon. There were these exciting and skillful players only known as nicknames to TOUCHLINE as I was very young by then, namely Mochini, Jaguar, One One, Kaizer Moketedi and the list is endless. They were playing for the now defunct Evaton Ocean Stars.
This is the same team I later played for.
Back to those above mentioned players, they used to entertain soccer fans with their God given talent.
Despite their talent, they never realized their potential to play in the top flight football because during those days there were no opportunities compare to the current crop of players.
Truth be told, those players could have walked in any Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs’ starting line up.
The community would come to watch these unsung heroes.
There were also great  players from other amateurs teams who were also household names in the community. Players such Ace Manyao, Windsor Letopana, Khonondo, Ziga, G-Man, Man  taxi Man, Conquer and Bothani 200 and the list go on and on. They also only know by their nickname in football as it was the case to many other players in the community. This is because their names were not written at the back of their jerseys like today’s players.
Sadly the world never witnessed their talent.
Again, there were also household teams in the community but because lack of financial muscles they die.
This is amateur football history history was not told.
There were great players with great talent but ended up nowhere.
This is our heritage and generation after generation must know about amateur football history especially those great players that never played professional football despite their talent.
