Pirates legend Magents dismisses PSL games to be played indoors suggestion

JOHANNESBURG.- Orlando Pirates legend Edward "Magnets" Motale dismissed suggestions that the Premier Soccer League (PSL) matches to be played behind closed doors to for the remaining league matches.

Motale was addressing journalists during his food parcels initiative in Gauteng. Magnets, as was and is still known in football circles said the PSL must wait even if the league resume in January. His biggest concern is the safety of the players. The outspoken Motale asked what measures are put in place for the safety for the players. “Look I don’t care whether it is in South African or England we must wait until we come up with the best solution. There is no point of rushing the league to start before we find a way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic among the players. I suggest for now we must forget about football all over the world until next year,” said Motale.

Motale is one of influential figures to join fight against COVID-19 pandemic by donating food parcels to the needy. Meanwhile, Sedibeng Ster Sport has learned that local soccer players, former and current players plan to join hands to contribute towards the pandemic. This was after Sedibeng Ster Sport asked them what is their plan in fighting against coronavirus in their respective communities. The top-flight league was suspended last month because of the coronavirus pandemic and the country has since gone into lockdown.
