SA Lockdown: Are local sports facilities complying or not?

SEDIBENG.- It is unusual to see sports facilities unoccupied especially on the weekends.

This has been the case since the South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced lockdown.
This past weekend Sedibeng Ster Sport journalist Zacharia Nale  drove around to some of the the sports facilities in Sedibeng to see if sports people comply to lockdown rules and regulations.
Some of the facilities Sedibeng Ster Sport visited include Saul Tsotetsi Sports Complex in Zone 14, Shakespeare Stadium and George Thabe Stadium. These facilities are center of attraction at the weekends, hosting football matches and other sporting activities. For example, Saul Tsotetsi Sports Complex hosts various sporting activities such as aerobics, netball, basketball, volleyball, karate, dancing and soccer to mention but a few.
When Sedibeng Ster Sport arrived at Saul Tsotetsi Sports Complex in Zone 14, the gates were locked and security personnel said no one was allowed to enter the premises.
“We were told that no one must enter the building until further notice. Since the lockdown we have turned down many people who wanted to come in just to  run,” said the security who did want his name to be mentioned.
Jack Leboko, who used the facilities for office purposes said he work from home. Leboko stays next to Saul Tsotetsi Sports Complex.
“I can assure there is no one allowed to come in since lockdown was announced,” he told Sedibeng Ster Sport.
