Covid-19 scare at clinic in Evaton

They are apparently asking people who visited the clinic between 16 to 18 March for medical assistance, and received help from a doctor who was working in casualty during that time, to come forward.

VAAL. – There are unconfirmed reports that the Sedibeng Health District is doing a mass tracing and testing of people who might have come into contact with a doctor at Levai Mbatha Clinic in Evaton that might test positive for Covid-19.

They are apparently asking people who visited the clinic between 16 to 18 March for medical assistance, and received help from a doctor who was working in casualty during that time, to come forward.

Vaalweekblad contacted the National Department of Health (NDoH). Spokesperson Popo Maja did not confirm the matter and said that they are currently investigating.

The facebook post from Thetha FM concerning the issue reads:

The search has begun for 30 people who were at Levai Mbatha Clinic in Evaton to seek medical assistance between the 16th and 18th of March.

This comes after the department of health in Sedibeng officially announced that those people might have been exposed to the coronavirus.

The department says it’s important that those people identify themselves earlier so that they can be tested at an early stage.

Last week the spokesperson for the Department of Health in Gauteng kwara kekana disputed these claims that patients might have been exposed to the COVID 19 virus.

Yesterday, the Sedibeng Health Department cluster confirmed that about 30 patients whom others might have registered on wrong identifications and addresses who went to the clinic during the 16th and 18th of March might have been compromised.

While listeners are urged not to panic, those who were at the clinic are urged to come forward privately as their identity will be kept private.
