Covid-19: Quarantined man discharged

SEBOKENG. - A man who was quarantined last week at Sebokeng Regional Hospital has been discharged with strict instructions to self-isolate for 14 days at his home.

This comes after health professionals at the hospital found the man to be asymptomatic, showing no signs of the new Corona Virus (Covid-19).

Last week, Sebokeng Hospital’s CEO Makibiti Madolo confirmed the man who recently came in from abroad was under quarantine at the hospital.

The man allegedly refused to be tested for the novel coronavirus after coming into the country and subsequently made a run for it. Officials were able to trace his phone to a store in Henley on Klip, where he was found and immediately taken to Sebokeng Hospital.

Madolo, however, said there was no reason for the community to be alarmed, as the necessary precautions had been taken.

On Monday Madolo said doctors did the necessary tests which have since been sent to the national institute for communicable diseases (NICD).“As soon as the results are received from the NICD, the health department in Sedibeng Region will do a tracing and take it from there.”

Madolo said that the hospital will continue to isolate suspected patients to conduct all the relevant tests.
