ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find the body of a man lying in the middle of the road. The vehicle that had struck the man was found parked some distance away.
“Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead. The driver of the vehicle escaped injury.”
According to police spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda, the driver of the vehicle said that he heard a loud bang and upon further inspection, found that he had hit a person.
“Unfortunately the victim did not make it as he was declared dead on the scene. Police are still looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
