Kollegepark kidnapping: Accused wants to bring second bail application

VANDERBIJLPARK. - One of the four people accused of kidnapping a Grade RR learner at Laerskool Kollegepark last year wants to bring a new bail application on "new facts" that has since emerged.

Thabelo Tshitaka, lawyer for the third accused, Pieter van Zyl, told magistrate Hussein Khota that Van Zyl wants to bring a new bail application based on new facts.

Bail was previously denied to both Van Zyl and alleged mastermind, Tharina Human.

The fourth accused, Bofoleng Molemohi, abandoned his bail application, while one of the accused, Laetitia Nel is currently out on bail.

The state is still awaiting a trial date in the High Court.

David Mey, legal representative for Human, said an aspect of DNA evidence still needed to be submitted by the state.

The case was postponed to 27 March.
