ELM concludes tests on the faulty transformer at the Town Substation

VANDERBIJLPARK. - Following power supply interruptions at the Town Substation that affected the Metsi-a-Lekoa Call Center and Vanderbijlpark water reservoirs, on Monday afternoon the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) issued a notice that it has concluded tests of the faulty 10 MVA transformer at the Town Substation.

According to ELM water levels at the reservoir are starting to drop and as a result, Bophelong, Bonane, Vanderbijlpark CBD, NW7, CE and CW areas might experience water supply interruptions (low pressure and no water in some areas). Emfuleni said a team of technicians has been dispatched to the Town Substation for fault-finding and power supply restoration.

In the notice, it said test results have been sent to the lab for analysis with results expected by later Monday afternoon. Emfuleni said power supply to the affected areas will be restored upon receipt of positive results from the lab. Technicians remain on site conducting further tests on the transformer. The municipality is pleading for patience with the affected communities as work to restore power continues.
