VANDERBIJLPARK. – Miss Gauteng Plus Size Finalist, Semakaleng Moeketsi (42), has once again proven that she means business when coming to issues of body image, especially among young girls.
Moeketsi recently held an event dubbed ‘Woke Beauty’ at a restaurant in Vanderbijlpark where big girls were given a makeover and also received advice from various speakers attending the event about how to nurture and love themselves unconditionally.
Having overcome body issues herself, Moeketsi has now taken a group of young girls from various schools under her charity and she will be helping them with body image issues and teaching them how to be confident in their own skin.
One of the speakers, director and founder of Elizabeth and Mary foundation, Caroline Nyatsambo, encouraged the girls to love themselves and to be confident in who they are.
Moeketsi believes that women should stand together and fight the injustices of this world.
Moeketsi has also been collecting underwear through her charity named ‘#Pantiesnbras’ and will be donating these to her 50 beneficiaries in January.
During the event, Moeketsi revelaed pictures of herself in Swimwear, something she has never done before but has now done in order to show that she has been able to combat an negative feelings about her body.
“My charity drive for #Pantienbras will continue beyond the competition because I want to give girls the dignity they deserve. Going into the final stages of the competition, I will not only be representing myself, I will also be representing those girls who have been shamed because of their bodies.”
