Rape case provisionally withdrawn

SEBOKENG. - A prominent community activist was arrested in connection with a rape case of a 15 -year-old minor.

The 33 year-old mother of the victim, said the known suspect, allegedly raped her grade nine learner over five days in his home in Ironside.

After the ordeal, he would transport her home before he released her to her parents at their home.

After opening the case, the alleged suspect handed himself over to the De Deur Police station on Wednesday.

When he presented himself at the station, the victim, her parents and member’s of the community in support of the girl were there. The weeping girl was so upset that she actually tried to breakaway from her family and run off.

After he had sign a confession with the police, his statement was sent to the regional prosecutor in Vereeniging who squashed it.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Simon Mofokatsane said the case has been provincially taken from the roll for further investigation.

The accused later give an interview to the Sedibeng Ster.

An act that places the cart firmly before the horse as he should have seen a lawyer before speaking to media.

The mother, particular, was extremely annoyed to learn that the case had been squashed.

The mother reported that her daughter had been kidnapped statutory raped for five days and intimidated when her alleged captor showed her his gun.

He threatened to kill her if she reported what he had done to her.

When approached for comment, the suspect, said he is accused for been vocal and against the negatives things happening in Emfuleni area.

“I know the names of the people who are behind this case. The aim is to silence me for telling the truth”

“The whole matters surrounded though projects and politics, he said. After closing the taps, others started to starve. Now they want to deal with me. The case of rape was a set up he said. About 90% of the community here are behind me. I know the girl and her parent, we stay in the same area. The strategy here is to dent my image and my career.”

Asked if he intends to hit back, he responded that is not how he operates.
