VANDERBIJLPARK. – She is passionate and unstoppable in her aim to assist mothers and babies in need during the first three weeks of motherhood and infancy. Ellouise Janse van Vuuren started The Grace Factory in 2013 with only three members (Amy in Sasolburg, and Sara and herself in Vanderbijlpark.
“The ultimate aim is to give value and dignity to mothers during the most vulnerable time of her life,” says Ellouise. A world wide campaign started with the United Nations has proved the first 1 000 days of a child’s live is critical. “If a baby is born with nothing to put on the very first day, how sad will the following day be?” asks Ellouise. She explains that some mothers cannot afford a single nappy. Some became unwillingly pregnant. These mothers receive pre-loved maternity packs to help them in this time of need.
The Grace Factory is a Non-Profitable Organisation (NPO). The goal of The Grace Factory is to provide them with maternity packs and give them hope. Three packs are provided. The maternity bag consists of a blanket, beanie, booties, baby grow, bib, breast pads, 24 nappies, wet wipes, aqua cream, bum cream soup and a face cloth. Mums who lost her baby at birth get a bag with special treatment and sympathy. Then there is one for newborns and one for two year olds filled with pre-loved items in good fresh condition; seven outfits and a toy. The Grace Factory relies on the goodwill of people to assist them in donating or sponsoring pre-loved clothes, toys and other items.
The community can get involved and support this organisation. Women’s groups can support by sewing items or other donations. Drop off points for donations can be done in Vanderbijlpark at The Red Café or the Roadri Centrum, as well as the Methodist Church in Sasolburg. (Tax certificates for donations are available). They can be contacted at www.thegracefactoryvaal.co.za or email ellouise@the gracefactory.co.zaFacebook: thegracefactoryvaal.
