VANDERBIJLPARK. – The community of Bonanne, Vanderbijlpark recently took it upon themselves to make donations out of their pockets and roll their sleeves up to clean their environment. Materials to patch the potholes, fix streets lights, cover streets lamps and paint to paint the electricity green box were bought.
The residents thanked River View Spar, Afri-Forum and Chayil company who also opened their purses and donated materials. Hannelie Fourie, Project Coordinator, said even though they have run out of the materials, they intended to close the potholes in about 3km of the roads in the area. “The materials that were donated are finished but we have at least covered most areas,” she said.
As the community, we are aware that during the service delivery protests, some of the residents get angry and start to vent their anger by burning materials on the roads and what remain is the damage caused.”Fourie said they have patrollers monitoring the areas. She adds that they aren’t cry babies waiting for the government to come to them. “The aim is for the community to always feel safe 24/7,” she said. Donors are welcome to call Fourie on 082 981 3041.
