SEDIBENG,- The Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM) has come out strong to refute recent claims made in some media mediums against its Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Johanis Kasvosve.
Reports surfacing recently had said that Kasvosve, a Zimbabwean national, was caught in possession of drugs and is currently on bail. It was alleged that he possesses no identity or work permit as a foreign national. The reports further went further to say that the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) was questioning his appointment at SDM.
Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM) under the leadership of Busisiwe Modisakeng has the Emfuleni Local Municipality, Midvaal Local Municipality and Lesedi Local Municipality falling under it.
Refuting the claims against Kasvosve the SDM agreed that he was of Zimbabwean origin and said that he was appointed early this year after legal recruitment processes were followed, due diligence conducted and further said that all was found to be in order.
“Mr Kasvosve does possess proper identification and the work permit. We are not aware of him being charged of drug possession and he has denied this charge. SALGA has never questioned his appointment and is not questioning it, at any rate, SALGA does not have such authority.”
The SDM said that it shall not be distracted from executing its constitutional and legal mandate of providing services to communities and supporting local municipalities.
“We remain focused on that mandate,” it said.
