Youth urged to stay away from drugs

“We strongly believe that the best results will come out from the youth and parents that attended the event. Through them, our society will never be the same again.”

VEREENIGING. – Boikatlo Community Projects, which focuses on assisting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, recently held a Drug and Substance Abuse Awareness Campaign at Waldrift.

The objective of the event was to bring young- and old people in one room to discuss issues of drug abuse, as well as solutions on how to combat such habits. They even boasted representatives from the Department of Health, Department of Social Development, Department of Education, South African Police Services (SAPS) and SANCA Vaal.

Lucy Leboko, founder and project Manager of Boikatlo Community Projects says, “Parents and young people were encouraged to unite and remain in love, for us to have a healthy society and a clean country.” Leboko stated that speakers on the day urged the youth together with their parents to work as a team and engage in talks on overcoming drug- and substance abuse in the country.

A dialogue was then held and young people were able to communicate the reasons that push them to get into drugs.

“We strongly believe that the best results will come out from the youth and parents that attended the event. Through them, our society will never be the same again.”
