SEBOKENG.- The Vaal Dojo Karate Club based in Zone 11 Sebokeng has done it once again!
The Club made Sedibeng proud when they recently brought home eleven trophies from a Karate Tournament held in Soweto.
The club, under the leadership of Sensei Buti Maqabe, competed in the age groups of u/70 kg and u/80 kg. The club’s fighters who brought trophies home are Kamohelo Mokobane, Ofentse Mboyiya, Thabiso Tau, Misskey Suthu, Alphiwe Mafojane, Maria Suthu, Thapelo Bambo, Morena Mofokeng, Bongani Mkwayi with Maqabe fought in the u/80 kg and was crowned the champion in the category.
Tshepiso Dojo Karate, under the leadership of Sensei Bongiwe Skosana, also brought home medals and trophies from the same tournament. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Sensei Maqabe said that this was a remarkable achievement for his club to bring home eleven trophies, taking into consideration that they were competing against the best clubs and fighters in the tournament.
“I want to take this opportunity to take my hat off to these youngsters, they really showed commitment in everything they did.
“I have no doubt that they will go far in this sport because karate is all about discipline and these students have demonstrated this from a very young age.
“ I also want to thank the Zone 11 community, especially the parents of these children, for their support and we will continue to make them proud,” Maqabe said.
Meanwhile, the Vaal Dojo Karate Club fighters have been selected to participate at a Limpopo Karate Tournament scheduled to take place in the province on September 7.
