Job Scam Warning!

ELM distances itself from fake job advertisements circulating online

Emfuleni Local Municipality’s Communications department issued this warning earlier today (14 May 2019):
A job advertisement currently circulating on social media has been brought to the attention of the municipality. This public statement seeks to clarify that the municipality has no vacancies at the moment, and distances itself from all unofficial and fraudulent vacancy notices.

Residents are warned against responding to such advertisements and are advised to check the municipality’s website and newspapers for genuine employment opportunities. Municipality Manager, Mr. Dithabe Nkoane, has condemned the actions of those who seek to misinform and mislead residents by sharing and distributing fake and unofficial job advertisements. “I encourage all residents to verify all job advertisements purported to be issued by the municipality as there are many scams which require job seekers to pay bribes for job opportunities that don’t exist,” he said.

Residents are also welcome to visit the municipality’s Human Resource Department, which is located at the Trust Bank Building on the Corner of CR Swart and President Kruger streets, in Vanderbijlpark. To verify job advertisements, residents can also call the Human Resources Office on: 016 950 5534/5648/5671.
