Man (22) appears in court for raping two sisters

“The 13-year-old was found naked with multiple stab wounds. The nine-year-old girl was also found with multiple stab wounds and was declared dead on the scene.”

SEBOKENG. – A 22-year-old suspect charged with rape, murder and attempted murder appeared stone-faced in front of a Sebokeng Magistrate last week.

The victims were a 9-year-old girl and her 13-year-old sister. The 9-year-old died of multiple stab wounds. It is alleged that both girls were raped.

This incident happened in the early hours of the morning on Wednesday in a Zone 10 Extension 3 shack in Sebokeng.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Thembeka Kaogo, said Police received a complaint of children screaming and immediately went to the scene.

“They opened the door and discovered that the house was full of blood with about three knives lying on the floor.

“The 13-year-old was found naked with multiple stab wounds. The nine-year-old girl was also found with multiple stab wounds and was declared dead on the scene.”

During the court proceeding last week members of the public were in support of the victims and their families.

The uncle of the victims told Sedibeng Ster that the children were alone in the house during the incident. Information received was that the suspect, who is known to the children, requested them to open the door.

He claimed to have been sent by their uncle to look after them.

Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane, expressed concern following the incident.

She appealed to the community to be calm and allow the police and the court to deal with the matter.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased and the victims during these trying times,” said Nkosi-Malobane.

Meanwhile, the suspect briefly appeared at the Sebokeng Margistrates Courts on Monday for a formal bail application and to access a legal representative.

The case has been postponed for further investigations and bail was denied.
