Still no improvement in city center’s service lanes

Business people plead with Emfuleni Municipality to clean up the city centre

VEREENIGING. – In the past year Ster and Vaalweekblad regularly posted photos of the worrying decay of the service lanes in Vereeniging’s city center, and called on the Emfuleni Local Municipality to pay urgent attention. While the service lanes are sometimes cleaned up, it remains a concern because garbage is being dumped illegally, homeless people sleep there and drug addicts openly sit in the service lanes and use illegal substances. It is especially Service Lane 4 which is currently in a very poor condition. Business people of the area once again call on the municipality to remove garbage on a regular basis and act against the squatters. “Our clients as well as ourselves can’t stand the stinking mess in the city center anymore. We plead with Emfuleni Municipality to help us,” is the request of business people in the area.
