These artists were unearthed through a massive national music talent search for the visually impaired and physically disabled musicians. The identified talented musicians were assisted through the whole process of preparing their music for the market and music industry.

SEDIBENG.- The third Southern African Disabled Musicians Association (SADMA) Concert is back with yet another great line up. Vaal will experience a different and exciting music concert ever, brought to the city by Southern African Disabled Musicians Association. The concert will be held during the Disability Month, Saturday 10 November 2018 at Vereeniging City Hall in the Vaal.

This event will feature some of SADMA’s recorded disabled musicians from different provinces. Last year two similar concerts were held in Barberton-Mpumalanga and Potchefstroom in the North West.

The organisation bringing this superb event is an association incorporated under section 21 of the Companies Act, the founders and board members of the association consist of blind musicians who have vast experience and expertise in the complex music industry. The main business which the organisation carries on is broad advocacy for disabled musicians throughout Southern Africa.

These musicians, although, disabled and disadvantaged felt it encumbered upon themselves to share their humble experience with other musicians who find themselves in the same position as they were. SADMA also serve as a vehicle for providing education and training in the complex issues of copyright, royalties, publishing and recording contracts to their disabled members.

SADMA has established a Music recording studio that is especially designed to serve the peculiar needs of blind and physically disabled musicians. The main purpose of the studio is to alleviate the problems encountered by the disabled musicians of our country in recording their music in the Commercial Music Recording Studios.

These artists were unearthed through a massive national music talent search for the visually impaired and physically disabled musicians. The identified talented musicians were assisted through the whole process of preparing their music for the market and music industry.

“This concert is to introduce the artists that we have recorded to be recognised and invited to perform at nation-wide mainstream concerts and festivals” said John Mothopeng, Chairman and founder member of SADMA.

“Their music is hardly played on National and on Community Radio Stations, their music videos too are never given platform to be played on national television. These concerts will definitely help these musicians gain confidence and self pride when performing to big crowds” concluded Mothopeng.

Organisations for disabled people in Vaal have been invited to this very historic event and will be entertained by the above musicians. They will also be treated to a sit-down meal. Companies and individuals are requested to support this initiative, a minimum fee of R200 will be charged this will cover the meal and ticket to the music concert, limited space available.
