Police foil Three River housebreaking

One African man who is now a suspect appeared from the front door with property which they intended to load in the van but quickly retreated back into the house. The officers on the scene then called for back up.

VEREENIGING. – Vereeniging police were able to foil a house breaking in progress after they heard a burglar-alarm go off at a residence in Three Rivers last week.

Police were busy with patrol duties and immediately rushed to the scene. On their arrival, they saw a white  VW Amarok van parked in the drive way with the gate wide opened.

Police spokesperson captain Fikile funda says, “The police approached the house for further inspection. Upon arriving at the gate they realised that the gate was  removed from the rail. One African man who is now a suspect appeared from the front door with property which they intended to load in the van but quickly retreated back into the house. The officers on the scene then called for back up.

“A Police Chopper, different police units, community crime prevention forces, security and  members of the community gave back up and three suspects between the ages of 29 and 34 were arrested.

“It was  found  that the Amarok had been stolen in a housebreaking and theft at Sasolburg where  property to the value of R160 000 00 including fire arms were stolen.”

We further found out that the vehicle had been used very  to commit crime in areas  like Centurion, Brakpan and Germiston. The suspects will appear in the Vereeniging magistrate court to face charges of house breaking and theft and any other charge that the prosecutor is going to bring against the suspects.”
