Motor-vehicle theft rife in Three Rivers

VEREENIGING. – Police spokesperson captain Fikile Funda warns residents of Three Rivers about the rising theft of vehicles in the area, adding that  VW Polos are targeted.

Funda further warns residents to be aware and not to display any valuables while walking in the CBD.
“Another concern, is the purchasing and selling of goods on the popular website, OLX. We are warning people to double check when doing so as many people have ended up victims of fraud when doing so”.
“We also encourage the use of anti-theft cables for laptops in offices,” says Funda.
Police  arrested a total of  27 people last week for various crimes including: rape, possession of stolen property, possession of drugs, bribery, pointing of a fire-arm, possession of dangerous weapons, shoplifting, driving under the influence, common robbery and house robbery.
“All the arrested people will appear in Vereeniging Magistrate Court,” Funda concludes.
