VEREENIGING. – The African National Congress (ANC) in Sedibeng that service delivery is paramount to the people of Sedibeng. This is what they made clear during their Regional Executive Committee (REC) in Vereeniging recently.

The party said that it noted the strides the REC, which has almost 90 days in office, has done by firstly holding a “successful and massive march” to Eskom that was threatening to switch off the lights across Emfuleni.

“Much against the pessimists, evidence before all confirmed that this was a politically correct action as many across the country followed suit. To this end, Eskom responded positively with a commitment to host a stakeholder summit to engage on issues such the provision and maintenance of electricity infrastructure and payment for services, amongst others.”

The party also said that once reports of water shortages surfaced in areas such as Sebokeng Zone 11, Tshepiso phase 5, Lakeside and Evaton, it didn’t fold its arms but engaged both Rand Water and Emfuleni who ultimately ensured water restorations.

“There is consensus on the urgent need for a well thought-out plan that will ensure the provision of water across the region in a suitable manner. To date, three (3) Ministers have been engaged with the aim of assisting the region to resolve infrastructure challenges which are a catalyst to economic growth through massive investments that will create much needed jobs.”
