SEOKENG. – A motorist has been arrested and charged with culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving and drunk and driving after he drove into a crowd of people at a wedding in zone 11 Sebokeng, killing a five-year-old girl and leaving several other people injured.
Police spokesperson captain Teboho Lephoto says, “A five year old girl was killed instantly and several people were seriously injured and scattered alongside the road. Paramedics were called in and the injured people were taken to a nearby hospital.
“The suspect has been arrested and has since appeared before the Sebokeng Magistrate Court. Police are still investigating the matter, and we wish to appeal to our motorists to respect the rule of law.”
Lephoto further stted that at no stage should motorists find themselves drinking and driving, as this may pose a serious threat to pedestrians and themselves too.
” We are saying do not drink and drive. Lastly, we wish to urge the community to report any crimes in their respective communities and participate in their various structures of the Community Policing Forums (CPF). ”
