Missing man found brutally murdered

VANDERBIJLPARK. – The body that was discovered over the weekend next to the North West University (NWU) campus has been identified as that of Bulelani Humphrey Sigwebela (44). Sigwebela was reported missing by concerned family members on July 23 after he left home the previous day.

Vanderbijlpark Police Spokesperson Sergeant Gertrude Makhale says, “It was reported that Sigwebela left his home to buy electricity, driving a brown Peugeot . Family tried contacting him but his cell phone was off. Friends and relatives were contacted telephonically, to find out his whereabouts with no luck.
Makhale says following the discovery of his body, Police are now investigating a murder case. “Sigwebela was brutally murdered. He was shot on the head, tied up and thrown into the river. The manner in which he was murdered is still of shock to the students of NWU and the police.
“We are asking for assistance of the community regarding the murder. Anyone with information that could be of assistance pertaining this murder must please come forward to the Vanderbijlpark SAPS and look for the investigating officer Constable Mothopeni .
