Residents close Golden Highway

The residents of Polokong claim to have been without electricity for almost three months.

SEBOKENG. – Motorists were left to find alternative routes after Polokong residents closed the Golden Highway this morning. The residents of Polokong claim to have been without electricity for almost three months.

The angry community closed the Golden Highway with burning tyres, rocks and everything they found at their disposal. Speaking to the angry community, they asked Sedibeng Ster to speak as a collective and not as individuals.

“The only language these people understand is protest. We have marched and engaged with an Eskom Sebokeng manager called Raditsela and were told that he was in a meeting but our issue was being processed. We were told we will have electricity in three days. That was last week Wednesday and nothing has come of it,” the residents said.

They further claimed to have spoken to the Ward Councillor who is also affected, but seems to have done nothing for the past three months as the situation is worsening by the day. Eskom and Bheki Ntsele, the Ward Councillor, could not be reached at time of going to print.
