Laid to rest – Lebogang ‘Chocolate Bar’ Tsokolibane

VANDERBIJLPARK . – Lebogang ‘Chocolate Bar’ Tsokolibane, a 38-year-old ‘proudly Vaal’ DJ, was laid to rest on Saturday at the Vanderbijlpark Cemetry.

This was after his funeral service was held at the George Thabe Stadium in Sharpeville.

Family and friends, young and old, gathered to pay their last respect to the DJ who made them dance.

Tsokolibane passed away the previous Monday night. He apparently collapsed at a club after his set. He was rushed home by his industry friend King Detoy. Upon arrival at home his mother Maipato Tsokolibane and his father Freddy Tsokolibane rushed him to hospital. He suffered complications and was further rushed to Sebokeng Hospital where he later passed away.

On behalf of the family Freddy explained how his child had died. “His blood pressure was high – 220 and caused bleeding on the brain. There was nothing that could be done for him. That’s how my child died,” said Freddy.

His friends, supporters, DJ friends, clubs, outlets and his family and relatives paid tribute as he iwa affectionately known in the music industry. A letter from his child in summary says: “Lebohang ‘Chocolate Bar’. My hero, my father, my friend, my super-chef… I promise to make you proud and I will fulfil my dreams, and may Heaven smile on you. You are the real hero,” said Kamogelo.

Lebogang’s mother’s last words to her son were: “I promise to take care of your son, my grandson Kamogelo. May your soul rest in peace.”

Tsokolibane died just after he released his debut song called Brand New Healing.
