SEBOKENG. – The family of 24-year-old Palesa Mokhele is devastated by her barbaric murder which has left her 4-year-old son without a mother.

Mokhele was allegedly beaten to death by her boyfriend who, following the incident, fled the scene. The incident happened last week Sunday.

According to Sebokeng Police spokesperson Captain Teboho Lephoto, the two lovers were involved in a quarrel on Saturday evening on their way home from a local pub. “Neighbours say they heard a noise coming from the two lovers’ home. They heard Palesa screaming and immediately went to the house to stop the fight. Things cooled down after that but later they heard loud music coming from the place. It is suspected that that is when the gruesome incident happened.”

Lephoto adds that the next morning, the man fled the scene and called one of her neighbours to go and check if Palesa was awake. “That is when her lifeless body was discovered. Emergency personnel were called to the scene and declared Mokhele dead.”

Police are currently looking for Palesa’s boyfriend in connection with the incident. Mokhele’s aunt, Lizzy Mofokeng, said that this incident had shocked the entire family.

It is said that Mokhele had tried to get out of the relationship numerous times, but that whenever she tried to dump her boyfriend he would always threaten to kill her. Any person with information can call the investigating officer Detective Constable Moleko on 016 988 1340.
