VEREENIGING. – Modisakeng said that SDM will formulate a land policy to empower municipalities to fast-track service delivery projects and Incentive Investment Programmes in the region. In partnership with the provincial sector the SDM will also continue to support youth development and also support programmes including availing enabling technology (smart City –Wifi) connections.
Modisakeng gave an overview of SDM’s development plans and challenges, with an emphasis on the current restricted resources and the limited anticipated revenue streams forecast for 2018/19, which cannot be achieved in a single financial year. Modisakeng suggested that allowing stakeholders an opportunity to express service delivery challenges in their respective areas was a great and productive idea.
“We need to deal with community problems head on, or engage with the communities on open-table discussions in order to know their grievances,” she said. Some of the critical issues presented were: the development of an integrated waste management plan in addressing waste management services including sewerage spills.
