ELM launches investigation into mysterious fire at electricity offices in Vereeniging
The Emfuleni Local Municipality through its Communications, Marketing, Branding & Events Manager Stanley Gaba reports that an investigation has been launched into the fire that severely damaged municipal offices housing the electricity department in the early hours of the morning today.
VEREENIGING. – The Emfuleni Local Municipality through its Communications, Marketing, Branding & Events Manager Stanley Gaba reports that an investigation has been launched into the fire that severely damaged municipal offices housing the electricity department in the early hours of the morning today in Vereeniging, Duncanville.
According to Gaba, emergency services were called to the scene to put out the flames and have since started probing the cause of the fire.
“Working with other law enforcement agencies, officials and officers from our public safety cluster are at the scene, combing the damaged offices for clues.Residents who may be trying to contact our electricity department to report electricity faults and outages may call this number: (016) 950-7750/51/52/53. The municipality apologizes for any inconvenience caused.”
Gaba further reports that no casualties or fatalities occurred during this incident. “While investigations are underway, the Executive Mayor, Members of the Mayoral Committee and the Senior Management Team of the municipality are pleading for patience from our residents while alternative arrangements are sought to ensure minimum disruption of services.”
