Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) wishes speedy recovery for 18 people who were injured during the Nedbank Cup’s semi-finals in the Moses Mabhida stadium. The footage should help to isolate and single out those who were at the forefront of hooligan riots.
We are very disappointed at the PSL leadership as well as stadium management and all stakeholders involved. The chaos which transpired yester night exposes a violent society, we are facing violence everywhere in the corners of our country and that does not augur well for the future of this country.
What happened during the soccer match is not different to violence encountered in the Mafikeng in a bid to remove its seating Premier, our citizen resort to violence whenever they are frustrated by a difficult situation.
We are calling for Parliament to summon PSL, Department of Sports as well as all stakeholders to come and answer to the nation as to what went wrong. We had a situation sometime last year when Sundowns fans were fighting Pirates fans, this hooligan tendency destroy the spirit of what is supposed to be a good game, a fair game.
Our stadiums should be a recreational centre where we find peace and happiness, it is not suppose to be a wrestling ring where people fight one another. We must be seen as a peaceful nation with absence of knuckles, fists or fire.
It is clear that the country is facing all sorts of violence. We are undisputable angry and at war with ourselves. We are limping and cannot continue like this. One of the fundamental reason for our anger is the material or economical situation we find ourselves in. We need to find peace first with ourselves, the fact that we can fight during soccer matches exposes something bigger than what we can see.
