Bella Maria gives up her name… but gains a ‘LifeLine’

The Shelter offers safe accommodation to women who have been abused.

VEREENIGING. – Due to funding regulations, the shelter for abused women in the Vaal Triangle will no longer be known as Bella Maria. The Shelter will in future be known as the LifeLine Shelter.

“Nothing else has changed. The services remain the same and the criteria remains unchanged,” says Colleen Rogers, Director of LifeLine Vaal Triangle.

The Shelter offers safe accommodation to women who have been abused.

Contact can be made 24/7 through calling LifeLine on (016) 428 1640 or during office hours on (016) 428 1740.

The Shelter provides a safe haven for any woman who is in need of a safe and friendly environment to work through the issues that she has.

“We work with the spouse or partner and family as well, in order to facilitate a safer space for the family to thrive. We have to remember that what our children see and hear, becomes ‘normal’ for them and the cycle continues. It is very difficult for children to cope in this environment and they are usually forced to choose sides, which is very unfair. They usually feel they are to blame for the situation in some way,” says Colleen.

A Social Worker is available in the Duncanville office on most Wednesday mornings if there is a need to have a one on one chat.

“It is not always necessary to access the Shelter to get the help you require. Just give us a call,” invites Colleen.
