Roshnee housebreak-ins on the rise

There is nothing more traumatic than waking up and having a gun pointed at you.

VEREENIGING.-A Roshnee home owner reports that five armed men entered his home in the early hours of the morning recently, demanding money and jewellery. The man says the group of men, carrying back packs and guns searched his house for valuables they could take.

“There is nothing more traumatic than waking up and having a gun pointed at you. There were five African males speaking Sesotho. First they tied me, my wife and son and told us to lay on the ground. They began taking some of our belongings and even asked us where the money was. They kept stepping on my son’s body as they went up and down our house looking for things they could seize. I am just glad that we are still alive.”

The man says they no longer feel safe ever since the incident took place. “The crime rate in Roshnee is on the rise. We no longer feel safe. I just want to warn fellow residents to take additional security measures to prevent this from happening to them and their families. I am just grateful for our neighbours and the police who came rushing to the scene and stayed with us.”
