SEDIBENG.- Former Sedibeng District Municipal (SDM) Executive Mayor, Mlungisi Hlongwane, who is currently SANCO Sedibeng Chairperson, is said to have been employed by the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) in the position of adviser to its Executive Mayor, Jacob Khawe. A statement issued by the office of Khawe on the matter said that the former SDM mayor is an opinion maker and a strategic thinker who provides advice to the ELM mayor where necessary.
“The Executive Mayor, Members of Mayoral Committee (MMCs) and the Senior Management of Emfuleni has convened a strategic session to assess the capacity of the municipality amongst others. The length and breadth of this session is to look at the loopholes on the strategies first and then people later. Mlungisi Hlongwane remains an opinion-maker and strategic thinker and will at any given time provide objective advice to the Executive Mayor.”
