School achievers recognised

In his keynote address, Khawe encouraged the learners who will be representing the region at the various institutions to give themselves enough time to concentrate even more on their studies. Khawe said that his officials will follow up on the students at their various institutions to make sure they work hard as promised.

VANDERBIJLPARK. – “We are the future and no one can stop us,” said the class of 2017. Grade 12 top learners from various schools were awarded for their great achievements during the 2017 Excellence and Mayoral Bursary awards hosted by Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) at Quest Conference Centre in Vanderbijlpark recently.
In attendance were the Executive Mayor from ELM, Jacob Khawe, Lesedi Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Lerato Maloka and Sedibeng District Municipality acting mayor Taudi Maphalla.
Also there was the Director from Sedibeng East District Department of Education, Mosibudi Makhubela. Each municipality brought its best-achieved learners. The ten learners who performed to the best of their abilities were awarded with laptops.

Khawe said that his officials will follow up on the students at their various institutions to make sure they work hard as promised.“It is not wise to invest in an unfertile crop. The communities have to know what their money is being spent on through the leaners.
“Parents should stop worrying about the level of unemployment after the children have competed their studies.
“The future of the children lies in their own hands. As long they have dreams to fulfil. There’s nothing wrong with focussing on other subjects,” said Khawe who also added that the learners should think about Agriculture as food security.
