Albino’s skin is not a miracle cure

He further elaborated on how the idea to create and write the book came about. He said in 26 countries in Africa, albinos are killed for selfish reasons while in South Africa, people are killed because they are different.

VEREENIGING. – Three Rivers Lodge was the place to be recently when Xoli Nosenga, popular traditional artist and author, launched his second book.

Nosenga unleashed his writing skills in 2015 with “My Rich Father, My Music and All”. This was the intensive and biographical book about Nosenga’s upbringing, family and music career. Now the ‘Dinamangongo’ hit-maker, brings to attention his second writing – My Skin is not a Cure. The book is about people living with albinism as well as other circumstances.

The book points out the stigma behind people with such skin conditions. “They believe that when you have sex with them your life will be productive. They say they don’t die, they vanish. They say their skin is a cure for many diseases.”This was said by Nosenga during the launch.

He further elaborated on how the idea to create and write the book came about. He said in 26 countries in Africa, albinos are killed for selfish reasons while in South Africa, people are killed because they are different.

“This is the reason I thought of educating the community about albinism,” said Nosenga. The event was conducted by Sisanda Gqirana, music provided by Velaphi, coordinated by Noncedo Mgudwana. The event was sponsored by Bishop Wami Nhlapo, Mopreki Distribution. The book will be available at Africa Flavour Books in Vanderbijlpark at Vaal Walk.
