The environmental organisation SAVE the Vaal Environment added these photos this morning on Facebook, saying this is what happened to a fisherman who cut his toe two weeks ago in the Vaal River and got an infection from the water.
According to SAVE’s post it happened in the main river about 3 km up from the Barrage near Vanderbijlpark.
The pollutant is apparently called Aeromonas Veroni and according to SAVE, comes from contaminated water.
Vaalweekblad is investigating. More information to follow soon.
