VANDERBIJLPARK. – One of the goals of Mrs Rita Benecke, president of the Rotary Club Vanderbijlpark, is to increase the number of exchange students every year.
This is one of Rotary’s many projects and includes long and short term youth exchange programmes.
High school children from the age from 16 years can apply at their nearest Rotary Club.
The students have to attend a selection interview. Successful candidates are matched with countries of incoming students and their parents act as host parents to visiting exchange students.
The short term programme runs for up to six weeks and the long term for one year. Long term students may be hosted by different families during their year depending on the approval of the Rotary Club involved. The cost for the exchange is carried by the parents.
