‘Jealous boyfriend’ to serve life in prison for killing five

'Jealous boyfriend' Jeremiah Maruping (60) was yesterday sentenced at the Vereeniging Magistrates Court after he set a house on fire on 4 March 2016, ultimately killing five people including a five-month-old baby. The incident happened in Zone 13, Sebokeng.

Mampe Mokoena(44) has died along with three other family members while two remain in hospital after her jealous boyfriend burned their family home recently.

VEREENIGING. – ‘Jealous boyfriend’ Jeremiah Maruping (60) was yesterday sentenced at the Vereeniging Magistrates Court after he set a house on fire on 4 March 2016, ultimately killing five people including a five-month-old baby. The incident happened in Zone 13, Sebokeng.

Jeremiah fled the scene following the incident but was later arrested. The family and friends of the deceased said that they were happy that justice prevailed although they would always miss their loved ones.
