SHARPEVILLE. – 75-year-old Dikeledi Martha Mokoena’s house burned to ashes recently in Ditentsheng, Sharpeville.

The cause of the fire is still a mystery. Luckily she was not around when her house erupted in flames. Dineo Mokhobo, her granddaughter, said Mokoena was visiting with her when the house mysteriously caught fire.
The pensioner’s grandson was around, but he too cannot explain what happened. He said, “It was midday and I just went out, maybe three streets away from home. I was soon summoned and told that the house was on fire. I really don’t know what happened,” he said. With the help of neighbours they tried to stop the fire but their efforts were in vain.
“We need any kind of help from the community please.”
Mokhobo said they had just fixed the house for the pensioner in December last year and now they have no resources left to fix the house and that they need help. Mokoena could not speak to Sedibeng Ster as she was too distraught.
