‘Ama Cheese Boys’ rule Sedibeng development football

Kaizer Chiefs’ head of development Kenneth ‘Conti’ Kubheka hailed the tournament as one of the best initiatives in this region. Kubheka spent the whole day watching these exciting games from the quarterfinal until the finals.

VANDERBIJPARK. – Emfuleni Local Football Association’s (ELFA) Situational U/17 Knock-out Cup came to an end at the Shakespeare Stadium with Nale Academy being crowned the champions over the weekend.

This was after they beat Sebokeng Warriors FC 1-0 in a nail biting final. The two teams booked their places in the final after they beat Sebokeng Academy and Vaal Ideal respectively in the semi-finals earlier in the day.
Kaizer Chiefs’ head of development Kenneth ‘Conti’ Kubheka hailed the tournament as one of the best initiatives in this region. Kubheka spent the whole day watching these exciting games from the quarterfinal until the finals.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport after the game, Kubheka said he was impressed with the quality of football displayed on the day especially the tournament champions. “I think the difference between Nale Academy and other teams is their belief in their own philosophy. I think many development teams must learn from them to have their own identity.
“The other thing that I noticed with other teams is that they tried to be too tactical and they make football boring unlike the winning team which was free-spirited in their style of play. I totally disagree with those who said there is no football in Sedibeng. I witnessed exciting talent on Saturday,” said Kubheka.
The tournament sponsor, Situational Security Training Academy CEO – Mlungisi Maquba was full of compliments for the tournament’s local organising committee for making this tournament a success. He thanked all the teams that participated in the tournament.
“I wish to take this opportunity to thank the Emfuleni Local Football Association for allowing our company to sponsor the tournament. This is part of our social responsibility for the support we receive from the community,” he concluded.
Emfuleni Local Football Association competitions convener Mamphuti Malepe congratulated the tournament champions. The four finalists received brand new soccer kits, trophies and soccer balls for their efforts. The winners received a trophy and gold medals with Sebokeng Warriors’ goalkeeper named the Player Of The Tournament for his outstanding performance on the day.
