Drivio: learning to drive has never been easier!

Students learn to drive on high-tech simulators before venturing out onto the open road.

VANDERBIJLPARK. – Drivio is an exciting new franchise that is changing the way South Africans learn to drive – but Drivio is no ordinary driving school. Students learn to drive on high-tech simulators before venturing out onto the open road. Therefore by the time they actually move in behind the steering wheel of a real car, they have learnt how to drive and just need to apply this in the real world.
The simulators are suitable for a range of applications; from new drivers learning the basics, to professional drivers looking to improve specific skills. Drivio prides itself on the fact that they are there to support students at every point along the way – from preparing the student to booking their learner or driving test, and then actually taking the student to the testing station on the day of the test, supporting them all the way.
And now, with the recent opening of a franchise in 121 Rossini Boulevard, Vanderbijlpark, residents of the Vaal Triangle have the opportunity to get aquinted with Drivio in our own area.
Acquiring a learner’s licence has never been easier.  With Drivio, students study all the rules on an interactive system, and must complete and pass a practice test before taking the departmental test. Instructors are on hand to support students at all times. With a learner’s licence in hand, students are ready to start practicing in Drivio’s advanced vehicle simulators, which have been designed to familiarise students with the rules of the road. It’s just like driving a real car and helps students gain confidence and quickly arrive at a point where they are ready to get behind the wheel of one of Drivio’s vehicles. Before practicing on the road, students will have learnt how to do everything from indicating to breaking, pulling off smoothly and changing lanes. Drivio instructors take learners to book their driving tests and are on hand when they are assessed – standing outside the testing station waiting to give a big thumbs up when the student passes.
Drivio was launched by Thivash Moodley, an entrepreneur who cut his teeth in the local aerospace and defence industries, and who was inspired to increase roadsafety by ensuring that people are taught to drive properly. With a pass rate that is three times the national average, it’s clear that this training methodology is having an impact.
Drivio’s pilot training store in Hatfield had proven so successful that the decision to franchise was a natural progression. “From the start our stores had an impact, and people wanted to be a part of the concept,” says Drivio GM Tannith Thompson.
Potential students range from school children, to university students, to employees in the corporate sector to government and municipal employees. The corporate sector is a big part of the business, and Drivio franchisees can offer advanced driving training, economic driver training and assess drivers on the road for companies – ultimately improving their driving methods.
Drivio has already opened stores in Hatfield, Pretoria East, Moreleta Square, Sandton store in Benmore and the most recent one in Vanderbijlpark, where Mr Martin Manmohan is the franchisee owner.
