Furious Rust-Ter-Vaal community closes R82

Residents said that they would continue to close the road until they are addressed by the Gauteng MEC of Education Panyaza Lesufi.

RUST-TER-VAAL. – Motorists driving on the R82 towards Rust-ter-Vaal were told to take alternative routes today after a protest broke out in the area.

The community this morning shut down the Rust-ter-Vaal  Secondary School and took to the streets demanding that a new school should be built for the children as allegedly  promised last year by the Department of Education.

“The school building is dillapidated and can collapse at any given time. Our kids cannot continue to be taught in a building that will make them sick as it was build with asbestos. The time frame for the building of the new school has come and gone but there is no school.”

Residents said that they would continue to close the road until they are addressed by the Gauteng MEC of Education Panyaza Lesufi.
