VANDERBIJLPARK. – Motorists driving towards the N1 and Sasolburg using the R57 road that passes next to the Joko Tea squatter camp are warned to use alternative routes as protesters were seen stoning trucks and vehicles earlier this afternoon.
The protest is said to have broken out after Eskom cut off all the illegal electricity connections in the area. Some protesters disrupted schools while others barricaded the Golden Highway with rubbish, stones and burning tyres.
Authorities are on the scene for further investigations
