VEREENIGING. – Starting off as a Locksmiths and Bicycle shop, Champions Locksmith expanded its activities into a Gunshop as well.
In 2000, Emil Swanepoel bought the company and is still one of the directors of Champions Hardware and Ammunition. The business grew from five employees to the current 19.
The business grew in all sections and it was necessary to diversify the Products and Services.
Champions is a Level 4 BEE Company and is proud to have Mrs Paulina Madibu as one of its directors.
The Locksmiths and Hardware division specializes in:
• Opening of safes, doors (domestic and industrial), automotive, etc.
• Replacement locks, coding of automotive keys/security locks/remote controls, etc.
• Restricted keyways and mastering of locks as well as making duplicate keys.
• Biometric locking systems/maglocks, etc.
Another of their specialized fields is Lockout Systems which cover a complete range of products. A wide variety of hardware is also supplied to corporate companies such as mines, steel manufacturers, logistical, etc. Three Sales Representatives look after the interests of the company’s corporate customers.
The Gunshop has also grown in stature and provides the following services:
• Selling of pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, semi-auto rifles, etc.
• All reloading equipment and components;
• Relevant Hunting products such as scopes, bags, hats, knives, etc.
Mr Tommie van der Merwe, one of the directors of the Gunshop, is the gunsmith on site who can do alterations and repairs to all types of weapons and firearms. At the new premises at 1 De Villiers Ave there is an interesting new addition: a 25 meter indoor shooting range and reloading room where you can fire your weapons in a fully automated range fitted with cameras. It is open until 18:00 in the evenings and the cost is R50 per session.
A coffee shop is also available on the premises for customers to sit and relax while waiting for their work to be done.
