Vaal Rand Flying Squad officer murder trial starts today

VEREENIGING. - The High Court in Vereeniging is packed to its capacity today as the Vaal Rand Flying Squad police officer Edward Kennedy is being trialled for his wife's tragic murder.

On Thursday November 6, 2014, Arnold and his ex-wife Genee received the news all parents dread to hear: Their beautiful 27 year old daughter, Ché Rudelle Fox (Kester), was murdered in her home in Rust-ter-Vaal, Vereeniging. She was killed with a single fatal bullet wound to her head. Her seemingly shocked husband, Edward Kennedy Fox, a police officer working for the Flying Squad in the Vaal Triangle, told his colleagues that she was shot by intruders.

At first it seemed the investigation made no progress, but on Wednesday, April 20 this year, 17 months after Ché’s death, the case took an unexpected turn when Edward was arrested and his service pistol confiscated by the Hawks. He appeared in the Vereeniging Magistrates Court on Thursday April 21 and was granted bail of R10 000.

Supporters of Ché are wearing pink and white T-shirts with the words ‘Your life mattered” on them.

The matter was postponed yesterday as Edward did not have the funds to pay his attorney and needs to make use of legal aid.

The court proceedings will commence shortly.
