Students vandalise VUT property #Feesmustfall

VANDERBIJLPARK. - The unrest at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) continued yesterday as students burned property on the institution's premises.

It is said that the students held a plenary meeting to shut down the university in the continued #Feesmustfall protest. The students further added that they would be joining other students who continued with their protest at another institution.

Speaking for VUT, DR Segopane Seroka states that the university is doing everything in their power to maintain order.  “In light of what has happened, we have beefed up our security.  There is a national campaign for free education, we support that but don’t support how the students are going about it.

Seroka adds that  the students must analyse what the Minister of Higher Education Blade Nzimande said in his statement as they will realise that they stand to gain.

“Many of people have a lot of interest in this matter. We cannot engage with our students right now. We have to wait for the operations to continue so that we can engage with them.”

Some of the students were arrested last night.  Students were seen this morning at the Vanderbijlpark Police Station where they demanded that the arrested students be released.
